MORRNAH NALAMAKU SIMEONA, Creator of the I-Dentity of the Self with Ho’oponopono® (SITH®)
(1913-1992)(D)
Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona, a native Hawaiian priestess healer (Kahuna Lapa’au), is the creator of Self I-Dentity through Ho’oponopono® (SITH®). As a teacher, she has conducted SITH® conferences and seminars in various parts of the world, including medical facilities, colleges and universities. Morrnah has given seminars three times at the United Nations. The Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawai’i honored Morrnah for her work and skills in Hawaiian language and culture, naming her a “Living Treasure of Hawai’i” in 1983.
Historical context by Morrnah
Born in Honolulu on May 19, 1913, daughter of Kimokeo and Lilia Simeona.
Lilia, mother of Morrnah, was the last kahuna of the Hawaiian dynasty and a historic healer who, along with Lili Uoqailani, the last queen of the dynasty, carried on traditional Hawaiian medicine until the end of her life.
The term “KAHUNA” is not native to our culture, but if we examine its etymology, ‘KA’ means light and “HUNA” means sacred or divine wisdom. In the Hawaiian Kingdom, the position of KAHUNA was essential in all spheres of Hawaiian life, helping to resolve internal (spiritual and physical) and external (relational, ceremonial, political and commercial) issues in all our experiences. It refers to a select group of people who worked on the theme of harmony in all issues that affect us.
From an early age, Morrnah worked with language in her healing practice. Later, at the age of three, she began her kahuna work, healing and guiding the earth back to its original harmony with all its vibrations. Because kahuna work is never something someone teaches you from a textbook and notes, she says she developed her skills based on her personal characteristics, applying the wisdom she had seen and heard from existing kahunas. Even in the midst of the tendency not to accept as heresy every wave of Westernization that was already occurring in Hawaii at that time, young Morrnah’s application of that tendency to existing wisdom caused a stir, but she is still praised for her actions today, for it was because of her that the kahuna was respected.
In addition to his practical training as a kahuna, Morrnah attended a Catholic school, which at the time was the strongest treatment of spirituality in Hawaii. Later, still seeking balance, he personally approached Indian philosophy and Chinese Taoism and learned the educational ideas of psychologist Edgar Cayce.
Morrnah’s Activities ────────────
In the Hawaiian community, the kahuna has always held a position of respect. They acted as mediators in all matters, including disputes, physical and emotional problems, family guidance, and, in the past, political agreements in diplomatic relations. At the same time, their task was to reconcile the root cause of the problem, disharmony, using herbal remedies such as LA’AU LAPA’AU, traditional massage LOMILOMI or prayer LA’AU KAHEA. And HO’OPONOPONO, which restores balance in all events, was always present as the basis.
Morrnah has used this classic technique, inherited from her ancestors, to heal many people over her lifetime. She is a master of the now very popular Lomilomi (traditional Hawaiian massage). The main purpose of Lomilomi was to connect the mind, body and spirit, and she was a representative of this activity. As part of her activities, she was a supervisor at the Kahala Hilton Hotel and the Royal Hawaiian Hotel for more than 10 years, performing her secret rituals for national and international guests.

Eugene Gogel, who visited Morrnah as a client in 1971 when she was 58 years old, described Morrnah at the time as follows
“When I visited her in her room, she was sitting quietly in the reception chair with a wooden sculpture of something in one hand. I didn’t know what it was, but somehow I could sense that it served to harmonize the energy of the place with the energy of a third person, me. He didn’t have much to say, but his movements and speech were soft throughout the session, but I sensed that he was adjusting something in a very subtle and detailed way. He never explained anything during the session, but by bringing me, the client, back to the present, he always allowed me to feel through my body. After the session, I felt for the first time that my body was like a treasure, that I was with it and that everything kept healing.
Many people from all over the world have started visiting Hawaii for the spa operated by Morrnah. Lyndon Johnson, the 36th president of the United States; Jackie Kennedy, the 35th first lady of the United States; professional golfer Arnold Palmer; and many other figures from the worlds of politics, entertainment and sports came from home and abroad to receive sessions with her. She is said to have often repeated, “Regardless of nationality, all of us living today need to correct the disharmony caused by the Westernization of our society, which has made us too focused on ‘thinking,’ and to live our true selves, and it is of paramount importance to reconnect with the universal source to which we are all originally connected.”
