Morrnah Simeona and Dr. Stan Hew Len*

“We can appeal to the Deity who knows our innate personal characteristics, for the healing of all the thoughts and memories we are holding up to this moment,” gently tells Morrnah Simeona. “It’s a matter of going beyond traditional means to access knowledge about ourselves.
The process Morrnah refers to is based on the ancient Hawaiian method of stress reduction (release) and problem solving called Ho’oponopono. The word Ho’oponopono means to do right, to rectify a wrong. Morrnah is a native Hawaiian Kahuna Lapa’au. Kahuna means “keeper of the secret,” and Lapa’au means “a specialist in healing.” She was chosen by a kahuna while still a small child and received her healing gifts at the age of three. She is the daughter of a member of the court of Queen Liliuokalani, the last ruler of the Hawaiian Islands. The procedure being carried out now is a modernization of an ancient spiritual cleansing ritual. It has proven to be so effective that she has been invited to teach this method to the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and other institutions around the world.
How does Ho’oponopono work? Morrnah explains, “We are the sum total of our experiences, which is like saying we are crushed by our past. When we experience stress or fear in our lives, if we could look carefully, we might find that the cause is actually a memory. It is the emotions related to these memories that affect us. The subconscious associates an action or person in the present with some thing that happened in the past. When this happens, emotions are activated and stress is produced.”
She continues, “The main purpose of this procedure is to discover the Divinity in ourselves. Ho’oponopono is a profound gift that allows one to develop a relationship work with the Divinity within, and to learn to ask for this in every moment, our mistakes through thoughts, speech or actions are cleansed. The process is essentially about freedom, complete freedom from the past.”
Every memory in every experience, from the first moment of our creation, eons ago, is stored as a thought form that is recorded in the etheric plane. This incredible recorder/computer is also known as the subconscious, unihipili or the child aspect within us. The inner child is truly real and comprises a part of the self. The other aspects are the mother, also known as uhane or rational mind, and the father, the superconscious or Spiritual aspect. The three comprise the inner family, which, in cooperation with the Divine Creator, forms its own I-entity of the Self. Every human being in creation, every plant, atom and molecule has these three selves, and again, the innate characteristics of each are completely different.
The most important task for people is to find their true identity and to place it in the Universe. This process allows this understanding to be made available.
The purpose of Ho’oponopono is: 1) To connect with the inner Divinity moment by moment; 2) To ask that the movement, and everything in it, be cleansed. Only the Deity can do this. Only the Deity can clear or correct memories and thought forms. Since Deity created us, only Deity knows what is happening in a person.
In this system, there is no need to analyze, solve, manage or cope with problems. Since Deity created everything, you can go directly to Him and ask for it to be corrected and cleaned up.
In the area of problem solving: the world is a reflection of what is going on inside of us. If you feel upset or imbalanced, the place to look is within yourself, and not out at the object you perceive as the cause of your problem. Any stress, imbalance or illness can only be corrected through working on oneself. It is important to say that this system is fundamentally different from other forms of Ho’oponopono. In traditional methods, everyone involved in the problem must be physically present and working together. In the Morrnah system everything can be dealt with between you and the Deity.
You don’t need to go an inch outside yourself for an answer or help. There is no one who can give more relevant information than you can get from within yourself.
Morrnah particularly recommends Ho’oponopono for those in the health care professions: “It is important to clean up Karmic patterns with your clients before you start working with them, so that you don’t activate old things between you. Maybe you shouldn’t work with that person at all. Only the Deity knows. If you work with a person and this is none of your business, you might take from the person the whole problem and everything associated with it. This is the cause of many breakdowns. Ho’oponopono provides the tools to prevent this from happening.”
Morrnah wishes for our Western society that everyone would do things to reduce stress. “People in the West have great difficulty putting their intellect aside. It is difficult for the Western mind to rely on the Highest Being because of the traditional Western churches, where the Highest Beings are not made so obvious.” He continues, “Western man has gone to extremes with his intellectualism that divides and keeps people apart. Man then becomes a destroyer because he manages and copes rather than letting the forces of Divine Flow perpetuate through him the right actions.”
Morrnah works with his colleague, Dr. Stanley Hew Len, who spent several years as a consultant in clinical psychology at Hawaii State Hospital. He has had profound results using this process with Hawaii’s most dangerous, violent and “mentally ill” criminals. He cleansed his judgments, beliefs, attitudes and asked the Deity what he can do for the person. And as these memories and attachments were cleansed, the patient improved. “The Deity,” Stan commented, “says it’s time to take all the children home.”
